Here's My Millennial-Photographer-Hot-Take on a How to Throw the Perfect Small Louisiana Wedding: Purely From an Aesthetic Perspective

Picture it. Lafayette. 2022. You're walking down the aisle at your dream wedding venue, surrounded by your closest friends and family. You're finally past all the planning, and you can relax and enjoy your special day.
Rewind now, you're probably getting started looking for the wedding essentials: the perfect venue, the most stunning white dress, and a good wedding photographer to capture all of the magic. It must be hard deciding where to start, and which venue and photographer can provide you with the experience that gives you a lasting core memory. As an experienced wedding photographer in Lafayette, I can say I've seen my fair share of amazing (and not-so-pleasing) wedding venues in the area. Here's what I've found couples usually enjoy:
A Indoor Venue's Best Friend: Ambient Lighting
Before commenting on this, I should warn that I'm biased, because I LOVE a modern spin on a vintage setting, but after working with many couples over the last few years, it seems to be the growing trend in the 20s decade. One of my favorite finishing touches on this type of wedding is the lighting, which can make or break wedding photos.

Overhead lighting? Tomato Tomato. It's outdated, boring, and can be harsh in a wedding setting.
My favorite part of millennial weddings? The comeback of Ambient Lighting. Accent wall lights, fairy lights, and so on are the key to great wedding photos. They add a beautiful warm glow that compliments couples and guests alike when hosting an indoor wedding.
Of course this is for when we're working indoors. A beautiful outdoor wedding with tons of natural light creates the most ideal situation to photograph. But with this choice of venue, it makes sense that ambient lighting does a perfect job.
Feed 'n Seed: This Photographer's Favorite
For our generation, intimate venues make for a cozy, enjoyable time with our closest friends and family. The spot in Lafayette that provides that me coziness, paired with the warmth from the lighting mentioned above, is the Feed 'n Seed. BONUS: it's found right in the middle of historic Downtown Lafayette.
The layout features an open room with a very eclectic-vintage feel, a bar, and space to dance. My favorite feature of this venue's room: the fairy lights. It's clear I can't talk about them enough. The Feed 'n Seed's use of them as accents to the wall behind appeal to brides and husbands-to-be because they don't require additional decoration. They have their own charm that create the perfect vibe for lasting, timeless photography.
Another one of my favorite perks: The rustic outdoor area! It's the perfect place to host the event outdoors, capture the stunning first look, or simply enjoy some fresh air! It's the best of both worlds for any couple and wedding photographer.
Conclusion
If you want the a great experience, in a central location, with the rustic charm of South Louisiana, look to Feed 'n Seed or other small venues. Trust, when this photographer says they make for a memorable day and photos!
I'd love to help provide any insight on the best way to capture your magical Southern Louisiana ceremony. Shoot me a message, or DM me on insta (@sun.rise) if you want to chat about wedding photography at this venue or your favorite venue in Lafayette, La.
